Perry, as he likes to tell the story, was a determined but slightly scared new father who “had a wife and two small boys, and more month than money.” He wasn’t afraid of hard work however, and in the summer of 1981 he began a company called “Consolidated Land Care” with nothing but grit, determined work ethic, and two push mowers. He worked for an employer all day, and in the evenings, he went to work on his company. And he wasn’t alone. The entire family joined in on weekends, mowing lawns and growing the business through a reputation for working hard and charging fairly for quality work.
This simple formula led to success. As the years went by, his customer base grew as word got around of the hard working young man who made lawns lush and beautiful. The attention to detail and focus on friendly service culminated in a moment in 1989 when Perry quit his job to work on his business full time.
With his focus now entirely on his company, Perry poured himself into the community and his business. In addition to offering lawn care, Perry, with the help of his son Jai, began to incorporate other services including lawn fertilization, indoor and outdoor pest control, termite treatments, mosquito reduction, and even wildlife services. Consolidated Land Care became “Consolidated Land Care and Pest Control”, and then the “Consolidated Pest Control” that services the community today.
Consolidated has grown a lot since 1981, when it was just a determined, hardworking father with a push mower. Today, Consolidated serves not only Plant City but also the communities around it. It’s commonplace to see Consolidated yard signs dotting neighborhoods all over Hillsborough county, and to see Consolidated trucks shuttling to and from homes and businesses throughout the area. One thing remains the same though: Consolidated is still run by humble, honest, hardworking people with a focus on honesty and quality of service. Consolidated’s “ETA Core Values” remains at the heart of the company, along with the certainty that when Consolidated stops being about service, it will stop growing.
Today, Consolidated’s sales pitch is much as it’s always been: We would be delighted to have the opportunity to serve you, your family, and our community with fair, quality work and products.
